Editorial Policies

Focus and Scope

The aims of the journal are:
- to promote and extend statistical education and application of statistical methods in all kinds of theoretical and applied sciences,
- to provide a forum for statisticians of Lithuania and other countries working in various fields of research to exchange their ideas and achievements, extending in this way possibilities of statistical applications.
The journal presents papers on
- the fundamental research in statistics, on inputs of statisticians into the theory of statistics and methodology of its applications,
- the application of statistics in economy, physical, technological, bio-medical and social sciences through the case studies,
- the application of statistical methods in official statistics, enriching them with the experience of other countries,
- the investigation of the history of statistics, information on important statistical events papers, relevant to the occasion important to the statistical science.
All papers are reviewed by the anonymous referees.

Peer Review Process

Review procedure

  1. A paper submitted to the Lithuanian Journal of Statistics is given to no less than two anonymous referees. If the language of the paper is English, then no less than one of the referees is from a country other than Lithuania.
  2. The referee fills in the review form, makes comments and suggestions for further work on the paper.
  3. All the reviews are sent to the authors of the paper, who make the required improvements and write an answer to each of the referees, presenting answers to each of the comments and informing about all the changes made to the paper.
  4. The improved paper and a letter with an answer are sent to the referee, who then makes the final evaluation of the paper.
  5. Based on the evaluation of the referees, the editorial board makes the final decision concerning the publication of the paper in the Lithuanian Journal of Statistics. The main criteria for publication: originality of the paper and correctness of the results.


Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
